Consultation for Parents of Children with anxiety in Communication

If your child struggles with selective mutism, communication shutdowns, anxiety around speaking, this parent-focused consultation is designed to give you clarity, confidence, and practical next steps.

Support for Parents

As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with extensive experience supporting children with selective mutism, anxiety-based communication difficulties, speech delays, and language challenges, I understand how overwhelming this journey can feel for parents.

When your child struggles to communicate, it doesn’t just affect speech — it affects sleep, confidence, family life, and school experiences. Many parents tell me they feel confused, dismissed, or unsure where to turn next.

You are not alone — and there is a clear, supportive way forward.

Are You Worried About Your Child’s  Communication?

Do you find yourself lying awake at night wondering:

  • Why does my child speak at home but not at school or outside?
  • Is this anxiety, selective mutism, a speech delay, or something else?
  • Am I doing the right things — or making it worse without realising?
  • Do we really need therapy, or can I help my child myself?

These are incredibly common concerns for parents of children with communication shutdowns, selective mutism, speech difficulties, or language delays.

Parent Consultation & Support

If you are a parent (or a caregiver supporting a child) and you would like to:

  • Understand why your child is struggling to communicate
  • Learn practical strategies you can use at home and in everyday situations
  • Reduce pressure around speech and build safety and confidence first
  • Get clarity on whether therapy is needed — and what kind
  • Feel reassured that you’re supporting your child in the right way

You can book a personal consultation with me.

During this session, we will focus on your child, your concerns, and real-life solutions not generic advice.

You’ll receive an email from my team with links to several forms.
Please complete them as fully and honestly as you can.

How the Consultation Works

To make sure our time together is truly helpful and tailored to your child, the consultation is carefully prepared in advance.

Step 1: Preparation & Information Gathering

Once you book your consultation, my team will email you with everything you need to get started.

You’ll be asked to:

  • Complete detailed questionnaires about your child’s communication, anxiety, development, and daily life

  • Share background information about school, family dynamics, and previous support (if any)

  • Send short video clips of your child in everyday situations (for example at home, during play, or routine moments)

This step is essential. It allows me to gain a clear, realistic picture of your child before we meet.

Many parents tell me this process alone helps them reflect and understand their child in a new way.
